It’s true that Bastille Day is not until tomorrow, but the city of Antibes celebrates it every year on July 13th, with festivities taking place just out in front of our apartment. So, it has become one of our favorite traditions to invite a few friends over to help us celebrate La Fête Nationale from our terrace. Tonight we had non-stop entertainment to accompany our Bastille Day Dinner. We were serenaded by the Orchestre d’Harmonie d’Antibes, who, once again, situated themselves just below our terrace in Square Albert 1er.
Cancan Dancers – John & Monique
And we were entertained by John Doyle and Monique Widemann, who danced a lively Cancan for us between courses.
La Fête Nationale Feu d’Artifice
And we were dazzled by the Fireworks extravaganza sprawled out in the sky overhead. Not to mention, we all got to participate in the entertainment by lending our voices to the singing of La Marseillaise. Dave and I were joined by the Doyles – Anne, John, & Kenzie, and by Monique & François, who did amazingly well in the energy department, considering that they had only just returned from a five-week trip to Canada.
Oh la la, Charlotte,
These entries look so good! You've been working hard this week.
La Fete de la Bastille 2006 was a blast...literally! And I must say that John and Monique look as though they are having a great time...just like the rest of us.
I love your photographs...I'll snitch these three off of the site, okay?
Fun!!
