Tonight we headed down to the Place du Safranier (about a 2-minute walk from our apartment) to participate in the Fête de la Bûche de Noël, only to find it “noir du monde” (VERY crowded)! It was too crowded to find a place to sit and enjoy a slice of the traditional Christmas cake, shaped like a log with mushrooms and bird nests and other woodsy things (all made from cake frosting) attached to it.
So, we stood in a short line to claim a couple of slices of one of the 30-foot (?) long Bûches, and walked back to our apartment where we sat in comfort and savored each bite, washing them down with a couple of Dave’s perfectly-made espressos.
