For the last 14 summers, Villeneuve-Loubet has been host to Les Fêtes Gourmandes, which is three days dedicated to the products of the region and the pleasures at the table - all in memory of their native son, Auguste Escoffier, king of chefs and chef of kings in the 19th-century. There are many tented stations providing wine & aperitif tasting, food tasting, cooking demonstrations, and a special tasting of Peach Melba. August Escoffier created the famous Peach Melba dessert in 1899 for the Australian opera soprano, Nelly Melba. The evenings also offer a variety of musical spectacles, with this year’s special “Homage to Pink Floyd” requiring no entrance fee.
