La Fête National – La Fête de la Bastille

This may very well be our favorite day of the year !!  For the past three years that we’ve been here, the kick-off for the Bastille Day activities has begun on July 13^th, with an amazing spectacle of fireworks right in front of our apartment on Plage Ponteil !!  We missed the first year because we had unknowingly gotten tickets that night for Jazz-à-Juan, but now that we know, we always reserve the 13^th of July for a celebration chez nous.  This year was even better than last year because the “Orchestre d’Harmonie d’Antibes Juan-les-Pins” serenaded us the whole evening right below our terrace in Square Albert 1er.

This year we shared the festivities with Monique & François and Niki & Fred & Katarina, and we were all impressed that both François and 12-year old Katarina knew all the words to “La Marseillaise”.
