In order to witness France’s contribution to the Fireworks competition this week, we took the train to Cannes with our friends Monique, Michel, and Christiane. It’s a quick ten-minute train trip, and we don’t have to worry about parking. We had pizza at a small restaurant near the port, and then we headed over to Plage Goëland to make ourselves comfortable in our rented transats. We paid 10€ each for a chaise longue and a drink on the beach. When we finished our drinks, Dave pulled out a chilled bottle of champagne that he had brought along, some plastic champage flutes, and some nuts and snacks. We were well prepared to enjoy the spectacle. And what a spectacle it was !! The theme was “Féérie”, and it was probably the best 30 minutes of fireworks that we’ve ever seen. There was no comparison between this show and the show presented by Great Britain last week. They were not in the same league at all. Next week is Spain…
