Our friends, Christiane and Michel, were walking along the promenade on their way back to the Cap from the daily market, and looked up to see us having breakfast on our terrace. We waved at each other and it appeared that they wanted to talk to us, which is not very easy to do while they are on the ground and we are on the 5th floor, so we ran downstairs to meet them. Watching the usual suspects playing pétanque in the square gave them the idea to make a pétanque date with us. We talked to them downstairs and made a date to play pétanque later today at 2:30 in the square in front of our apartment along with Monique and François. I can’t wait! We always play the men against the women, and the après-pétanque always includes pastis and olives.
